Devos of the Week: Ephesians 4:29

“Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so your words may give grace to those who hear.” What a strange idea in our world today. We use words to overpower, to gain praise and gain riches, to get our way, and to have our voice heard. What if our words were more for the benefit of others? Are my words useful for building up, for meeting other’s needs, for giving grace?  Why or why not?  Lord hear our prayer: let nothing evil come out…Amen.

Devo of the Week: Psalm 9:1-2

“I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.” The content and attitude of our hearts are revealed through what comes out of our mouth both in words and songs. What are you talking about these days? What are you singing about? How does this reflect your heart? Lord, so much noise and so many words each day; let my mouth be filled with talk and songs about You.

Devo of the Week: 3 John, verse 13-14

“I have much to write to you, but I would rather not write with pen and ink, instead I hope to see you soon, and we will talk together face to face.”  John knew, even without Facebook, twitter, and Snapchat, that there was something different about face to face communication that was better than pen and ink.  What makes face to face conversations meaningful and essential?  Who do you need to see face to face to really communicate that you would like to?  God, real communication is work, messy, and time consuming; help us to love others face to face.

Leadership Devo of the Week: Psalm 9:1-2

I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.” The content and attitude of our hearts are revealed through what comes out of our mouth, both in words and songs.  What are you talking about these days?  What are you singing about? How does this reflect your heart?  Lord, so much noise and so many words each day; let my mouth be filled with talk and songs about You.

Leadership Devo of the week: Matthew 21:28-31

“Which of the two did the will of his father?” Read the passage. Talk is cheap. Saying the right things and giving the right answers come easier than living a life that embodies “not my will, but Yours.”  Does my faith show up more in my words than my actions? Let my actions speak for themselves as I live out Your will for my life today and every day. Amen.
